Don and I saw the radio-oncologist today.
They bundled me up from my hospital bed, put me in a fancy wheelchair, and wheeled me downstairs to get me in a medical transport van. All to go one block to the next building over to see the radio-oncologist. Can you imagine?
So once they take the rest of the staples out and the incision has healed, I’ll start radiation treatment. 30 days total, 5 days a week for 6 weeks.
New normal
We also talked about mobility. The doc confirmed that I have a new normal. Left-sided weakness and diminished muscle control. I’ll be getting physical therapy, but the goal now is to preserve rather than increase function. It’s unlikely that I’ll go back to previous levels.
That was a blow, I have to admit.
But Don helped me rally (he really is a rock).
Now I’m looking at adding a walker to my mobility collection (currently, a nice transport wheelchair and matching blue cane). I’m already googling all-terrain walkers. Not just because of the sidewalks on our street but also because I want to access the outdoors as much as I can.
I want to feel the sun and wind and rain on my face, walk in the city park a few minutes from our house, and explore other places in Quebec City that I never made time for. Like the Promenade Samuel de Champlain.
Yay! indeed. Good to get your news. Hugs!
Thinking of you everyday. Big huge hug,
Julie 🥰🌺❤️
