I have increasing left-sided weakness, so no more real walking; instead I will get around in a wheelchair. I can still grip with my left hand. I can eat and type with my right. Physical therapy will help.
Our three-storey townhouse is my beautiful respite. The new normal will have me in a space (currently our dining room) on the ground floor instead of our bedroom in the attic. Luckily, we have a small bathroom on the ground floor. I will have a view on our garden as it emerges in the spring sunshine and rain and final snow. The birds will chirp, the greens will bud. Soon by the end of April, the crocuses will spread and carpet the ground. Don will feed his birds and do battle with the thieving squirrels.
I am learning so much. I learn that I can strip everything down to essentials. The moment. Breathing in and out of the moment, feeling the peace. Because underneath everything, despite moments of difficulty, there is profound peace.
Life is good.
As for concrete next steps, radiation therapy begins tomorrow April 12. Then we discuss the results of the biopsy with my neurosurgeon on Friday April 14.
Fingers crossed.
Sovita,
J'adore lire de tes nouvelles. Tu es absolument lumineuse. Un passage de ton texte m'a particulièrement touché et m'a rappelé des souvenirs parce que c'est tellement vrai : I am learning so much. I learn that I can strip everything down to essentials. The moment. Breathing in and out of the moment, feeling the peace. Because underneath everything, despite moments of difficulty, there is profound peace.
Life is good.
Tu me rappelle les promesses que je me suis faites et je t'en remercie. Je pense à toi et je m'inspire de toi pour ma vie. Merci Sovita. Malgré tes difficultés, tu parviens à apaiser les gens et c'est un talent assez rare. xoxo
I am sorry about the new constraints. Will the weakness subside once the tumour shrinks? I am sure you will make physiotherapy work :-). You are very graceful or is it gracious? (both, it turns out, and looking it up, made for interesting reading). Still mulling some commentary about your "sticker" entry :-). We are all learning with you, on your journey :-)
